Thank for you your interest in being a dog walker at FOHA! Your orientation will consist of 2 parts that you MUST attend to be considered a trained dog walker. You will be then eligible to walk our easiest to walk dogs - Green Dogs. You will need to attend further training to advance and be able to walk our Yellow Dogs and Orange Dogs. Each level is determined based on how hard the dog pulls on leash and what other behaviors do they display on a walk (reactivity to strangers, reactivity to other dogs, mouthy, jumping, over excited, etc.). As you advance through our training classes you will learn to address these behaviors with positive reinforcement training to help minimize the undesired behaviors and help to make each dog more adoptable. You can stop at any level you like and do not need to advance through all levels of training if you only want to walk our easiest dogs. Just know that our easy dogs get adopted very quickly and we do not have as many Green Dogs as we do Yellow and Orange.
As a reminder - you need to sign up for both the Virtual Session and the Hands On Sessions.
