Opportunities From: Friends of Homeless Animals

Volunteer: FOHA Helping Hands: Art & Enrichment

About This Activity

FOHA Helping Hands is a relaxed, hands-on volunteer opportunity focused on creating items that support our dogs and cats, without direct animal interaction.

Volunteers will work on simple projects such as:

Making enrichment items for shelter animals

Decorating adoption and foster “going-home” bags for dogs and cats

Creating basic artwork or decorations for the shelter

Preparing seasonal or holiday themed items

No crafting experience is needed. Projects are easy to jump into, materials and instructions are provided, and staff will be available to help guide the work.

Who Can Participate

This is a family friendly volunteer activity and does not involve handling animals.

Volunteers 16 and older may attend independently

Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times

Activities are hands on, so adult assistance is expected for younger participants

This is a great option for families, first-time volunteers, and anyone looking for a calm, creative way to support FOHA.

Volunteer: FOHA Transport Team

Volunteer Opportunity: FOHA Transport Drivers Needed!

FOHA is seeking dependable and animal-loving volunteers to help transport our dogs and cats for a variety of important trips. If you're comfortable behind the wheel—especially in a larger vehicle like our FOHA van—we need you!

We are currently recruiting for:

Weekday Medical Transport Drivers
Transport a dog or cat to a nearby veterinary appointment. These trips are typically 1–2 animals and may be suitable for your own vehicle—or you can use the FOHA van if preferred.

Intake Drivers
Help bring new dogs and cats to FOHA from our rescue partners. Intake usually takes place in Staunton, VA on Saturdays around 12 PM, with possible Wednesday meetups. Most intakes require use of the FOHA van due to the number of animals. Meet up address: 134 Rowe Rd Staunton Va 24401

Event Drivers
We’re expanding our off-site event efforts and would love to use our FOHA van to bring adoptable dogs to the community! You’ll meet handlers at the event—your role is to be their ride to a brighter future.

Requirements:

Comfortable driving the FOHA van is strongly preferred.

Valid driver’s license and completion of Yellow-Level Volunteer Training (not required for cat transport).

Responsible, reliable, and ready to be part of a lifesaving team!

Whether you're available weekly, monthly, or just when needed, your help makes a huge difference.

Once you sign up, we’ll send you a quick Google Form to learn more about your availability and comfort level with different types of transport.
